Rapunzel's Shadow

Hey, you guys.

Thought I'd share my thoughts of what I'd learned in the third season premiere of Tangled: The Series.

For starters, now I know why Cassandra betrayed Rapunzel.  Remember that episode in The House of Yesterday's Tomorrow, where Cassandra got sucked into a dark spot?  Well, we learn what she saw in that spot.  She learned that she was the biological daughter of Mother Gothel.  That's right!  Mother Gothel!  You know, Rapunel's stepmother, who kidnapped the Princess from Corona when she was just a baby?

Well, upon discovering that, Cassandra began to feel that she would never have her glory and would always live in Rapunzel's shadow.  This is what causes her to steal the Moonstone Opal before Rapunzel can get it.  It's sad, really.  I always liked Cassandra, but this twist of events makes me feel she didn't actually want to go Villain on everybody.

And Rapunzel is taking this harder than anyone.  I mean, the thought of having to fight the person who you called your best friend all your life?  She's got that burden to bear on top of everything else now?  I feel her pain.  She did not deserve the life that was thrust upon her or Cassandra.  It wasn't either of their faults that Mother Gothel kidnapped Rapunzel.  What could they have done to stop her?  They were just children at the time.

Anyway, what does everyone else think of this twist?  As for me, I feel Cassandra has become a tragic villain in the hopes of finally gaining her glory.  She didn't ask for this to be thrust upon her, and something tells me she won't want the destiny she's claimed.

That's all for now, so remember, everyone, keep smiling, and keep dreaming.
