Rei Refuses to Become a Slave

Rei Hino had tried to explain to her friends that she'd had a bad feeling about the vacation she'd mysteriously won.  Now, as she discovered herself trapped in a small prison cell alongside Kagome Higurashi, she wished she'd listened to her gut.

"As soon as our benefactor shows up, we negotiate the prices for both our prisoners," a voice said from outside the barred door.  "For insurance, we've ordered them to be tied up so they won't be as much of a resistance."

Kagome's eyes went wide as she realized the meaning behind the conversation.  "That benefactor must be a slaveowner!" she whispered.

Rei's eyes went wide with anger and frustration as she declared, "Well, they won't be selling us!  We've got to escape, and now!"  And with the agility she'd gained from becoming a Sailor Soldier, she managed to maneuver her bound hands from behind her back, sending them under her bound legs and within eyeshot as she told herself, "Now to see if I can undo this bind."

And so, the Hikawa Priestess began grinding and tugging her bound wrists, hoping to find the slack she could exploit.  As Kagome watched her work, her heart pounded in her chest with desperate hope, because if they couldn't escape, they would ultimately be sold into slavery, and both of them knew it wouldn't be pretty.
